Queen of Extinction

Hi all!

So I was really lucky and was sent an ARC for Queen of Extinction by Gwynn White and Erin St Pierre, I finished this last night and WOW it was brilliant!

Queen of Extinction is a dark retelling of Sleeping Beauty, forget everything Disney taught you about this fairy tale and fall in love with it through fresh eyes!
The story is told through the viewpoints of three people, Princess Aurora (our main character) , Raith and Jorah our secondary characters.
I fell in love with the story straight away, the characters endeared themselves to me (I want my own Jorah!) It’s full of magic, Betrayal and murder! A brilliant read, and must go onto your summer reading list!
I was delighted to discover that book two Queen of Destruction is already available and I’ve already started to munch my way though it! So expect a post on that soon!

I really recommend this to any fantasy/fairy tale lovers. You won’t be disappointed!

As usual feel free to contact me with any questions on the books I’ve read or suggestions for books you think I should read/review!

Have a fab day and happy reading!

Crystal Frost series

Hi all,
I apologise for the lack in posts lately but I will be making up for it!

So I recently read a brilliant series by Alicia Rades. This is the “Crystal Frost” series.
The series is well written and consists of
book 1 – Fire in Frost
book 2 –  Desire in Frost
book 3 – Inspired by Frost
book 4 – Fading Frost

I really enjoyed this series, it’ll appeal to fans of the “Ghost Whisperer” tv series as well as fans of Meg Cabot’s missing series (also known as the “1800-where-r-u” series) and also her Mediator series.

Each “frost” book is well thought out and will leave you wanting more!
The first book is available FREE on Kindle unlimited or you can buy the set for just 99p! ($1.26)
Below you’ll find the link for the set.

Have a fab time reading!
Next post will be about the ARC I’m currently reading!

The Elementals – Michelle Madow

Hi all,
So over the past few days I’ve been reading this series…….
I really enjoyed it, it’s a bit like the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan but aimed at a slightly older audience.

Nicole Cassidy is a witch descended from the Greek gods… but she doesn’t know it until she moves to a new town and discovers a dangerous world of magic and monsters that she never knew existed.

When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole and four others — including mysterious bad-boy Blake — are gifted with elemental powers. But the comet has another effect — it opens the portal to another dimension that has imprisoned the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes, it’s up to Nicole and the others to follow a cryptic prophecy in time to save the town… and possibly the world.

The gets started straight away no boring background or build up we are literally there, and the more you read the more hooked you become!

A few Novellas

Hi all,
this post is a tad different to normal because I’ve decided to combine the novellas I’ve read this week into one post.

First up is First Command by Alex Lidell, this is the prequel novella to Air and Ash
I found it really interesting, it was great to learn more about Nile and her fellow characters.
You can grab it here:

first command

Next up is
Shadows by Jennifer L Armentrout.
Shadows is a prequel novella to The Lux series.
In shadows we learn how Dawson and Beth meet, this is effectively their story.
I love that we get to learn about them, it adds more depth to the whole series. A must read for a fan of The Lux series.
Grab it here (my copy was included in the eBook of Oblivion):

And finally, the third novella I read this week is…..
Drowned Silence by Amy Mcnulty.
This is the first time I’ve read any of her work. I found it to be well written, the story was satisfyingly creepy when needed to be, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
If you like creepy, alternative reads this is for you, and is a great way to introduce yourself to her work.
I got my copy of this novella by signing up to her mailing list.

Have a great day, and thanks for reading 🙂

Air and Ash – Alex Lidell

After a lifetime of training, seventeen-year-old Princess Nile Greysik, a lieutenant on the prestigious Ashing navy flagship, sails into battle with one vital mission—and fails.

Barred from the sea and facing a political marriage, Nile masquerades as a common sailor on the first ship she can find. With a cowardly captain, incompetent crew, and a cruel, too-handsome first officer intent on making her life a living hell, Nile must hide her identity while trying to turn the sorry frigate battle worthy. Worse, a terrifying and forbidden magic now tingles in Nile’s blood. If anyone catches wind of who Nile is or what she can do, her life is over.

But when disaster threatens the ship, Nile may have no choice but to unleash the truth that will curse her future.

Hi everyone!
Last night I decided to read Air and Ash by Alex Lidell, when I say I decided I was told to (peer pressure much Sarah K L Wilson?!), I’ve had this on my to read list for a few weeks now and am so glad I decided to start it last night.

The book starts in the middle of a battle which drew me right into it, the more I read the less likely I was going to be able to put it down, in fact I ended up reading it through the night, worth it tho!

The book follows Princess Nile Greysik of Ashing (Nile Ash) as she sails the seas and finds her true self.
With characters you fall in love with and others you want to make walk the plank, this book is a true gem. It’s not a style I’d normally read but I’m so glad I did, tonight I’ll be reading the novella – First Commander (see it in a forth coming post!)

Book 2, War and Wind is due for release on the 20th of June 2017 and I for one can’t wait!

Have a fab evening/day
