This post is about To The Falls by Heather Renee.
To The Falls is Heather’s first book and I was lucky enough to win a copy at her launch party.
The gets started straight away no boring background or build up we are literally there, and the more you read the more hooked you become!
I fell in love with her characters, her character and world building and the style of her writing. There’s magic, love, light and darkness, challenges and self acceptance. A real mix but it really works, I highly recommend this book to each and every one of you!

A few Novellas

Hi all,
this post is a tad different to normal because I’ve decided to combine the novellas I’ve read this week into one post.

First up is First Command by Alex Lidell, this is the prequel novella to Air and Ash
I found it really interesting, it was great to learn more about Nile and her fellow characters.
You can grab it here:

first command

Next up is
Shadows by Jennifer L Armentrout.
Shadows is a prequel novella to The Lux series.
In shadows we learn how Dawson and Beth meet, this is effectively their story.
I love that we get to learn about them, it adds more depth to the whole series. A must read for a fan of The Lux series.
Grab it here (my copy was included in the eBook of Oblivion):

And finally, the third novella I read this week is…..
Drowned Silence by Amy Mcnulty.
This is the first time I’ve read any of her work. I found it to be well written, the story was satisfyingly creepy when needed to be, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
If you like creepy, alternative reads this is for you, and is a great way to introduce yourself to her work.
I got my copy of this novella by signing up to her mailing list.

drowned silence

Have a great day, and thanks for reading 🙂

Air and Ash – Alex Lidell

After a lifetime of training, seventeen-year-old Princess Nile Greysik, a lieutenant on the prestigious Ashing navy flagship, sails into battle with one vital mission—and fails.

Barred from the sea and facing a political marriage, Nile masquerades as a common sailor on the first ship she can find. With a cowardly captain, incompetent crew, and a cruel, too-handsome first officer intent on making her life a living hell, Nile must hide her identity while trying to turn the sorry frigate battle worthy. Worse, a terrifying and forbidden magic now tingles in Nile’s blood. If anyone catches wind of who Nile is or what she can do, her life is over.

But when disaster threatens the ship, Nile may have no choice but to unleash the truth that will curse her future.

Hi everyone!
Last night I decided to read Air and Ash by Alex Lidell, when I say I decided I was told to (peer pressure much Sarah K L Wilson?!), I’ve had this on my to read list for a few weeks now and am so glad I decided to start it last night.

The book starts in the middle of a battle which drew me right into it, the more I read the less likely I was going to be able to put it down, in fact I ended up reading it through the night, worth it tho!

The book follows Princess Nile Greysik of Ashing (Nile Ash) as she sails the seas and finds her true self.
With characters you fall in love with and others you want to make walk the plank, this book is a true gem. It’s not a style I’d normally read but I’m so glad I did, tonight I’ll be reading the novella – First Commander (see it in a forth coming post!)

Book 2, War and Wind is due for release on the 20th of June 2017 and I for one can’t wait!

Have a fab evening/day

Shift of Shadow and Soul

Hi all! Hope you are all well.

I was lucky enough to receive a ARC of Shift of Shadow and Soul by Hilary Thompson.
This is the first book of hers that I’ve read although I do have Justice Buried of hers on my to read list.

There are three kinds of magic in the world, and Corentine has the wrong one.

Long ago, the Restless King forced Corentine’s people into hiding as he scoured their blood for the SoulShifter. When Corentine learns she possesses some of the forbidden Shifter magic, she must hide her power or risk the same death her twin suffered.

Raised to trust no one, she rejects the General’s son Sy, until she realizes his family secrets might be the key to unlocking hers. When his brother turns against them, they are forced to fight family to save what’s left of their home, or accept banishment to find a new future.

If Coren and Sy can’t convince their people to accept the light of Shifter magic, the growing Shadow will ruin everyone’s chance of freedom.

This book drew me in within the first few pages, I discovered that thinking “I’ll read a chapter before bed” was a very bad idea as before I knew it I was 45% through and it was 4am!
I love the style this novel is written in, and I adore how she uses words that fit perfectly in the book yet you still understand what they are such as “catten, Ratten, Cheetana and Snakka” (Cat, Rat, Cheeta and Snake”
The book is full of mystery, adventure and danger as well as magic.
If you like the sound of this book it is due to be released on the 22nd 2017 and the link for it is below.

This book needs to be on your to read list.

Happy reading!

The Lux Saga

Hi all, it’s me again!
So last night I finished book 6 out of 7 in the Lux Saga by Jennifer L Armentrout, I first started reading her novels last year but you’ll find out about those in a future post.
So the Lux saga contains 7 books
1 – Obsidian
2 – Onyx
3 – Opal
4 – Origin
5 – Opposition
6 – Oblivion (This is books 1,2 and 3 from Daemons’ POV, some conversations can be repetitive to read if you’ve just read books 1-5 so I suggest you leave a few days or a week or two before you read it.)
7 – Shadows (Dawsons’ story – and the only one I need to get my hands on and read!)

Obsidian is about Katy, a book lover/blogger that moves into a small town, there’s a hot guy next door her age as well as his twin sister, but boy does he seem to hate her and Katy has no idea why, until one night she finds out.

Packed full of suspense, love, aliens! (hot aliens that is!) this paranormal fantasy will leave you wanting more. To be honest I had the next book in the saga lined up ready and waiting before I’d even finished the previous one.
Books 1-5 follow Katy (I don’t want to give away too much so you’ll need to go read them yourselves! But I will say if you choose to read them you will not be disappointed)
Well worth a read, find below the links to book one of the series.
Also how awesome are the covers?!

What are you all reading this weekend?
I’ve almost finished Fort Rewind by Sarah K L Wilson and then I’m onto an ARC which you’ll all hear about soon!

Happy reading
Sarah – Devoured By A Bookworm

My first post where I introduce myself and gush about a great author.

Hello and welcome to my blog!
I’m Sarah, I’m 25 and I live in Cornwall in the UK. I’ve had a love of reading and books since a very young age and have decided after recent events (I became the official proof reader for Sarah K L Wilson – You’ll learn more about her in this post) I decided I wanted to share all the amazing books I’ve read with other like minded people.

So here goes, I’m dedicating my first post to Sarah K L Wilson’s books, so far I’ve read ALL but one of her books and that one will be started in the next day or so…..
Sarah K L Wilson is a Canadian writer who specialises in sci-fi fantasy cross over novels, she’s also written a novel based on The Hudson’s Bay company and the story is based around true events. She’s also done a fantasy satire (this is the one I need to read!)
All her books can be purchased on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk with several included on kindle unlimited!

Find them here:
and here:

As with all her books, they are fast paced, mind bending and leave you needing more!
she has the last of The Unweaving Chronicles out in July and I really really can’t wait to read it! If you haven’t read any of her books I suggest you have a nose at them via the above links, I’m sure you’ll love them just as much as I do.

I hope she doesn’t mind but I’ve pinched her website header so you can all see how amazing her covers are!

Hopefully my rambling and gushing hasn’t bored you too much!
Until next time
