The Tainted Accords – Kelly St Clare

Hi all,
Sorry for being AWOL for awhile, I’ve been busy looking after my mum after a spinal operation.

I’ve read a few books these last few weeks (87 so far this year!)

One series I read was The Tainted Accords by Kelly St Clare.
I read the first one via The Marked By Fate box set which is due out on Tuesday! (24th Oct 2017)
I was instantly hooked at the idea of two planets that are side by side, one incredibly hot and one freezing cold. Each can only exist with the presence of the other.

ks

The first book is Fantasy of Frost.
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed in and read all 4 within 3 days and then read the novella “Sin” after.

Full of secrets, action, destiny and betrayal and love.
I highly recommend you read this. The characters and storyline are amazing. get yours here:

So go have a look, you won’t regret it.

If there’s no tomorrow – Jennifer L Armentrout

Hi all,
I recently read If there’s no tomorrow. I absolutely loved this book (then again I don’t think there’s a JLA book I’ve read and not enjoyed!)

itnt

Lena has always felt immortal. But one night can change everything.

Lena and Sebastian have been close for as long as anyone can remember. Best friends, even. But secretly Lena has been wanting something more—Sebastian could be more than a friend, if only Lena could figure out how to convince him that they could, and should be together.

But in a single night, after a single party, everything changes and suddenly Lena isn’t thinking about her relationship with Sebastian at all.

The only thing she’s thinking about is trying to piece together what happened that night, and how she was the sole survivor in an accident that left 4 of her friends dead.

Even as her friends and family try to rally around her, Lena pushes them away as the memory of the accident begins to resurface. How will they ever forgive her for what she did? How will Sebastian forgive her?

And how will she ever forgive herself?

This book was a emotional roller coaster, one minute I was smiling, the next tears were streaming down my face.
Incredibly well written, it addresses issues such as lone survivor guilt and grief in a sensitive yet informative matter.
I loved the story line and the relationship between all characters and highly recommend this book.

The Bride Series – S Doyle

Hi all,
Last night/today I’ve been reading The Bride, The Wife and The Lover. Books 1, 2 and 3 in The Bride series by S Doyle. I am now about to start the 2 novellas (The baby  and The Homecoming).

tb

Ellie

So here’s the deal. I’m sixteen and I’m getting married. Super weird, I know.

My dad is a cattle rancher in Montana. Or he was, until he died suddenly, leaving me an orphan (which is still a thing). I’m sixteen months away from being a legal adult, so I have two choices.

Foster home, or married. To Jake Talley. The foreman of the ranch and my best friend.

It’s legal. It solves all my problems. Except now I’m living with Riverbend’s hottest cowboy – my husband (in name only of course) – and I’m still in high school. Trust me, no one wants to date Weird Married Ellie.

But it’s cool. All we have to do is wait it out until I’m eighteen and we’ll get a divorce. Then Jake and I will go back to being normal.

We’ve got this. Right?

Jake

I’m twenty-six, and I never saw this coming. Married. To a kid I’ve known her whole life. But there was no way in hell I was going to let her live at a foster home, instead of at the ranch where she belongs.

Sure we’re married but it’s not real. Just a piece of paper. My girlfriend is furious but I know I’m doing the right thing – for Ellie. For sixteen months, it’s me and her against the world – until the divorce.

No big deal.

Or is it?

This story line really appealed to me as it’s not one I’ve come across before. I loved the relationship between Ellie and Jake and how they overcame battles and I really enjoyed learning about cattle ranching.
The books are quite short and easily ready in one sitting.
A great easy read that’s also fairly informative on different subjects.

In her words – London Casey, Jaxson Kidman

Hi all,
I came across this book on my Facebook news feed and after reading the blurb, I knew I had to read it.

CASS: I always remember Scarlett as the one night stand that got away from me. I fell in love; she took off. It feels like a lifetime ago now though. I traded in my guitar for a needle, working at St. Skin, bringing other people’s stories to life through tattoos. Though I still think about her, I know I’ll never see her again. But I never knew that after she left our one night, she left pregnant. She never told me. I only find out when her best friend comes crashing into my life and my heart with a baby in her arms – my daughter. With my life turned upside down, I struggle to figure out what it all means: being a father, and finding a new love growing in the place reserved for the woman I lost but thought of as my forever love. It feels crazy – and wrong – but I don’t care.

DIEM: A car accident takes my best friend’s life and now I’m raising her baby. I’ve fought hard to do everything to keep Paisley as my own, but I know her father is out there and he deserves to know the truth. The last thing I expect to find is the sexiest man I’ve ever met – complete with muscle, tattoos, and an attitude to match. I’m not going to force him to be a father and I’m certainly not going to force him to get close to me. But I need the help. Meeting Cass was supposed to make life easier. As I fall for him, I realise everything is becoming more complicated.

This is the first book in the St. Skin series and after reading this I can’t wait.
I loved how it was told from both Cass and Diems’ perspectives and also how it flicked between past and present. Unlike some books it was easy to understand when in the timeline we were.
The characters were easy to get to know and were very likeable.
At times it had me in tears which I wasn’t expecting but I fully enjoyed every second of the story. There were some bits I could guess and others which were really unexpected.
A really easy and enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon

Everything,_Everything

Hi, So I’ve not been reading much lately as been ill and my concentration hasn’t been brill due to long term illnesses.

But the other day while out I grabbed a copy of Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Partly as it’s been on my to get list for ages, and partly because I had to wait while my mum had a mri and I’d forgotten to grab a book as we left the house.

Maddy is a 17 year old girl who is allergic to the world, Olly is the boy next door.
Can love conquer illness?

This is Nicola’s debut novel and after reading it I really want to read her next one “The sun is also a star”
Everything, Everything   had me laughing, grinning my head of and at times crying my eyes out. It’s a very easy read, brilliant when you don’t want to have to concentrate hard on remembering a story line or millions of characters.
Definetly a great read, I’d give it a 4/5. It’s also now out as a film but after how wrecked the book had me at times I think I’ll wait for it to come out on dvd!

Players of Marycliff – Jerica Macmillan

Hi all,
Sorry it’s been a little while since I posted. This is due to a combo of brain fog with my ME as well as reading some bits I couldn’t do a review about as not due out till end of the month and October etc etc. (Plus I will admit I saw supernatural for the first time the other day and have already binged watched up to the end of season 2!)

So just before the brain fog kicked in I read the first of the Players of Marycliff books by Jerica Macmillan.
I have now read books 2, 2.5, 3 and 4!
These are:
2 – Convenient Fall  and this follows the story of Chris and Megan
2.5 – Opening Hearts ( where Matt meets Hannah) – this is free if you sign up to Jerica’s newsletter
3 – Managed Hearts – this follows on from Matt and Hannah
4 – Unsaid things – we revisit Abby and Lance

As with all the books in this series you can read them as stand alone novels.
I really enjoyed these and do recommend them to anyone that wants a bit of hot romance. They are all well written and the sex scenes don’t leave you cringing or reaching for the sick bucket unlike some I’ve read before!

On this link you can find all her books. Definetly worth a read and I’m sure I’ll read books 5 and 6 in the series soon too!

Summer Fling – Jerica Macmillan

Hi all.

Bit of a change from the books I usually blog about.
Summer Fling is book one of the “Players of Marycliff University”. Each book can be read as a stand alone or read as a series.

I came across it on Facebook advertised by the author (Jerica Macmillan) as a freebie, and once I’d read the extract Jerica shared from it I decided I had to read it.

“Why do you keep asking me out anyway? You’re Lance Kane, right?”

His smile faded, and his expression turned a little wary. “Yeah. I’m Lance Kane. Why do you think I keep asking you out? I told you I like spending time with you. Why else would I ask you out?”

Abby leaned forward now, pressing her point. “But Lance Kane doesn’t go out with a girl more than twice.” She motioned with her finger back and forth between them. “What’s the deal here, then? If you’re calling this a date, that makes three.”

s

Abby is a Spanish major who meets Lance a football player who’s just graduated at a party. Lance is a serial dater 2 dates tops and then he moves on. Abby doesn’t tend to date or party.
Opposites attract or so they say.

I fell in love with Abby and Lance, the more they learnt about each other the more in love with the book I fell (So happy to find that I can revisit them in book 4!)

A real feel good romance. So good that I’m currently reading the second book!
This is the first book of Jerica’s that I’ve read and would highly recommend her to anyone that likes romance or just a good sexy book.
